Thanks, dalchina, for your extended response. I have so many programs that I don't care to do a fresh install of Windows, so this is my last option before going that route.
It gives me the error that Windows Services cannot be opened. I tried downloading and manually installing the update (KB4023057) after it failed via Windows Update. I bought the program "Restoro" and ran a full scan and it didn't fix the problem I tried to recover this by installing Windows 10 again and keeping my existing files and apps.
In "Services" under Windows Audio, I have found in the properties/dependencies that one of the 3 required services is missing, i.e., "Multimedia Class Scheduler" I have found in device manager/system devices, there is an error at "High Definition Audio Controller". My sound card is not even listed in "device manager". I have no sound and have tried all the logical solutions I know of.
